It’s a property bursting with character and period features, situated in an excellent location for exploring the Mendip Hills and the surrounding area, providing a useful base for families or groups of friends wanting to experience Somerset.
Upon entering the house, you will find yourself in an impressive hallway boasting a number of period features that just add to this property’s charm, such as the original servants’ bells attached to the staircase.
On your right is the spacious sitting room with plenty of comfortable seating around a warming woodburning stove, a cosy space for relaxing with the family after a busy day sight-seeing or hiking in the hills.
Tucked away is a door that leads to a passageway with convenient WC and a further door that leads into the courtyard that leads to additional parking and the garden.
Downstairs there is also a large, fully-appointed kitchen with dining area.
This is a sociable space, where you can cook up a fantastic meal together or sit and chat at the table, deciding on where to go and what to see the following day.
The sleeping accommodation can be found upstairs and consists of three cosy bedrooms.
The spacious double and twin rooms each have the added luxury of the en-suite shower rooms.
There is also a single room and a large family bathroom.
Outside there is a shared garden, that has a large lawn meandering towards a small stream at the bottom of the garden.
The property lies in the village of Wookey, situated on the banks of the River Axe on the edge of the glorious Mendip Hills.
Nearby is the historic centre of Wells, known as England’s smallest city.
There is plenty to see in Wells from the magnificent Cathedral to the beautiful Bishop’s Palace, as well as a range of boutique and independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.
The village is known for it’s filming location!

Wells, England’s smallest city, is named after the springs which still bubble up today in the grounds of its splendid Bishop’s Palace with its famous moat. Adjacent is the beautiful 12th century cathedral situated within a most attractive cathedral close and green. Nearby, Vicars Close is home to the oldest complete medieval street in Europe, and the quaint market square offers an array of interesting shops, boutiques and restaurants, and a colourful twice-weekly market. The surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides a wealth of scenic footpaths and rugged landscapes, and is a superb base for caving and rock climbing, and for road, biking and mountain biking. Nearby are the attractions of Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves, both offering great days out. The picturesque Somerset Levels, as well as mystical Glastonbury are also situated an easy drive away. The beautiful city of Bath, with its Roman Baths, Thermae Bath Spa, The Theatre Royal and wonderful shops, is under 30 miles away, as is the vibrant city of Bristol, which boasts a multitude of attractions, including The Zoo, Theatres, the Aquarium, the Arnol Fini Art Gallery and many more.
