The summit has an Ancient British Iron Age hill fort, which the hill is named after – Caer Caradoc is Welsh, meaning Caradog’s Fort. Venture north to the historical market town of Shrewsbury where you can enjoy a trip to the National Trust owned Attingham Park Estate with the iconic Town Walls Tower and take an eery tour of the old local prison or 11th-century castle. On your return to the cottage, stop off at the famous The Royal Oak Pub for a refreshing pint of bitter and some tasty pub grub.
